Africa-Press – Angola. Thirty-five officials and technicians from the Justice bodies in Cunene marched Saturday, in Ondjiva, to demand better wages and working conditions.

The march went through the main arteries of the city of Ondjiva, to express the dissatisfaction among the officials of the organs of justice.

On the occasion, the representative of the Union of Justice Officials of Angola (SOJA) in Cunene, Adérito Benedito, said that the march is a response to the silence and non-compliance with the complaints presented in the claim booklet.

He informed that this is an organized, orderly and peaceful demonstration to demand an increase in wages due to the loss of purchasing power, as well as the improvement of working conditions that dignify the employee.

“Since we sent the claims to the Superior Council for the Judiciary, Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, as well as the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), we have never had a favorable response,” he explained.

Adérito Benedito recalled that the list of claims highlights, above all, the changes in categories and the improvement of working conditions that must be safeguarded in favor of justice officers and technicians.

In November 2022, 60 bailiffs and clerks in Cunene province staged a five-day strike to demand promotions and improvements in working conditions.

SOJA controls 80 unionists in the province of Cunene.
