Interclube defeats GD Isaac and regains third position

Africa-Press – Angola. In a dynamic and fast-paced game, Interclube recovered, yesterday, the third position in the overall Girabola ranking table by beating, by 1-0, Grupo Desportivo Isaac de Benguela, in a game of the 19th round, played at Estádio Edelfride Costa “Miau ”, in the city of Acacias Rubras.

The only goal of the game was scored by Lito in the 45th minute, taking advantage of Paty’s free kick in the best possible way. In this move, the ball passed through the defense of Grupo Desportivo Isaac, Lito deflected and scored the only goal of the match.

On a sunny afternoon, with a full house, due to the holiday that is observed due to Carnival, the game started with a sign of intensity. Despite the first two opportunities belonging to the Interclube team, the hosts tried to contradict the intentions of the police as much as possible.

The home team, quite determined to counteract Interclube as much as possible, at five minutes, through Quinho, almost scored the first goal, which did not happen, due to the attention of the opposing defense.

João Vala, in the 10th minute, wasted another great opportunity of the game for GD Isaac. Despite dominating the police, who tried to pull the hosts into their midfield, with Jó Paciência, Mano Calesso, Buba and Paty standing out, there was a lot of determination on the side of GD Isaac, with Diego, Patrício, Bugos and João Vala being the most non-conformists.

Without fear, the players of Grupo Desportivo Isaac de Benguela, also, on several occasions, created chills to the visiting team, with several attacks, but without success. It has been said that in “taking advantage is the gain”. That’s what Interclube did at the end of the first half. Central defender Lito, after a free-kick was scored by Paty, scored the winning goal.

The disposition of the teams did not change in the second half. With the entry of player Geraldo, the main reference of Grupo Desportivo Isaac de Benguela, the home team tried, at all costs, to take the mill by their side, however, without success.

With yesterday’s victory, Interclube avenged the defeat of the first round, by 3-2, and recovered the third position of the championship, now, with 34 points, after having been reached by Sagrada Esperança.

TECHNICAL OPINION

Pereira promises more work

The assistant coach of Grupo Desportivo Isaac de Benguela, Ribeiro Pereira, promised to work harder and better to score points in the next rounds of the championship. For him and the entire technical team, defeat was not in the forecast. He recognized that there was a certain inattention in the midfield, where the foul that caused the lone winning goal of the opponent appeared.

“Our players fought on equal terms with Interclube. The outcome of the game would be different, however, Interclube was lucky to score the only goal that gave them victory”, he said.

Ribeiro Pereira stressed that the players who took part in the match did not disappoint, given the short preparation time they had, and that next time they will work more in the midfield. The coach of Interclube, Luís Gonçalves, was satisfied with the victory that puts the team in third place.

He recognized the commitment of the opposing team, which, according to him, proved to be a team that is growing more and more in the National Championship of the I Division.

He added that there were times when his players were forced to make an effort to maintain their meager advantage. “The important thing was the victory achieved and from now on, to continue working for the next matches”, he maintained.
