Africa-Press – Angola. Issues related to the strengthening of cooperation between the armed forces of Angola and the United Arab Emirates, with greater incidence in the aviation and naval branches, were addressed this Thursday, in Abu Dhabi, by the Angolan Minister of Defense and Veterans of the Homeland , João Ernesto dos Santos.
The Angolan official met with his counterpart from the Emirates, Al Bowardi, on the sidelines of the 16th edition of the international defense exhibition and conference (IDEX) and the 7th exhibition of naval defense and maritime security (NAVDEX), which take place from 20 to 24th of this month in the capital of the United Arab Emirates.
The two ministers reviewed bilateral cooperation and defended the need for its reinforcement, within the scope of existing agreements between Angola and this Middle East country.
On the occasion, Minister Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Bowardi thanked, on behalf of his Government, the fact that Angola had sent a delegation to his country to participate in the defense fairs in Abu Dhabi and for the interest shown in increasing cooperation in the fields of aviation and naval.
Participating in the meeting were the Secretary of State for Military Industry, Afonso Carlos Neto, the Angolan ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Albino Malungo, among other entities.
On the other hand, international firms headquartered in this region of the Middle East expressed interest in establishing partnerships with Angola, in all areas of the armed forces.
The intention was manifested during meetings that minister João Ernesto dos Santos had with foreign companies present at IDEX and NAVDEX, which are due to end on Friday, at the Abu Dhabi International Exhibition Center, where more than 1,300 companies from 65 countries.
