Ministry satisfied with the level of execution of the works on the EN-230

Africa-Press – Angola. The level of physical execution of the 116 kilometers of the Malanje/Rio Lui section, on National Road 230, satisfies the Ministry of Public Works, Urbanism and Housing, despite some constraints registered in recent years, which have now been overcome.

These are the Malanje/Caculama (57.90 km), Mucari/Serra de Cabatukila (30.8 km) and Serra de Cabatukila/Rio Lui (28.1 km) lots, which currently have an execution level above 50 percent, with completion forecast for August this year.

Satisfaction was expressed Friday, by the general director of the National Roads Institute of Angola (INEA), Henrique Victorino, during a visit by the minister of Public Works, Urbanism and Housing, Carlos Santos, to the said section, which aimed to evaluate the progress of the project, which started in 2020.

The person in charge pointed out improvements in the structure of the pavement, from the sub-base, base to the bituminous layers, as a result of the technical corrections imposed by the Ministry, although he recognized that there are aspects to be improved.

He said that the Mucari/Serra de Cabatukila and Serra de Cabatukila/Rio Lui lots were struggling with bitumen shortages, a situation that had already been overcome with the permanent supply of this product to contractors by the National Combustible Society of Angola (SONAGOL).

With this, he added, greater speed is expected in the works, especially at a time when dry weather is approaching.

Regarding the quality of the work in progress, the director-general said that it complies with the criteria required by the relevant Ministry, but he added that a control will be carried out before the works are received.

He stressed that INEA will continue to monitor the technical capacity and specialized human resources of contractors, with a view to streamlining actions and compliance with contractual deadlines.

The Minister of Public Works, Urbanism and Housing, Carlos Santos, concluded yesterday a two-day working visit to the province of Malanje where, in addition to the EN 230, he evaluated the progress of the road rehabilitation works in the Canâmbua neighborhood and the construction of the first phase of the centrality of Malanje, in the Carreira de Tiro neighbourhood.

The minister went on to Lunda Norte province, where he will also take an X-ray of the sector.
