Africa-Press – Angola. The deputy ombudsman, Aguinaldo Cristóvão, assured this Friday, in Huambo, that bringing services closer to citizens is one of the body’s goals, as a way of contributing to the reduction of bureaucratic procedures in public institutions.

According to the official, who was speaking during a meeting with members of the council for social consultation in the municipality of Caála, province of Huambo, the idea aims to accelerate the resolution of conflicts in all areas of social life.

Aguinaldo Cristóvão said that the body will set up, in a first phase, focal points in the municipalities of Bailundo and Caála to start providing assistance to the sector that is closer to the citizen, with a view to seeking common well-being.

With the focal points, he explained, it is intended to simplify the audiences with the citizen and the assessment of social problems, as well as outline strategies for attending to the public, quickly and free of charge, within the framework of the national project of the Ombudsman’s Office that foresees the gradual election of five municipalities in each of the country’s 18 provinces, with Huambo as a pioneer.

He recalled that the Ombudsman’s Office is the guarantor of the defense of citizens’ rights, where anyone who feels aggrieved must seek legal advice, free of charge.

For his part, the administrator of the municipality of Caála, Rúben Isaías Etome, was predisposed to cooperate with the Ombudsman in the constitution of the focal point planned for the municipality, in order to contribute to the defense of the rights, freedoms and guarantees of the citizen.

In the municipality of Caála, one of the 11 that make up the province of Huambo, the deputy ombudsman visited the local District Court, the Attorney General’s Office and the National Police Command.
