Africa-Press – Angola. A public complaint resulted this Friday, in Mbanza Kongo (Zaire), in the arrest of the provincial director of Infrastructure and Technical Services, André Malufuene, on suspicion of embezzling public funds.
According to the second-class Superior Inspector of the General Inspectorate of State Administration (IGAE) in the region, Garcia Luvongo, the accused was caught receiving, in his office, 1.6 million kwanzas, presumably from one of his most direct collaborators. .
He explained that the amount in question should never reach the person in charge of Infrastructure and Technical Services in Zaire, as there is a company contracted to supply materials, goods and services to the aforementioned provincial office.
According to the IGAE Inspector, Garcia Luvongo, when the amounts were allocated and reflected in the service provider’s account, the director of Infrastructure and Technical Services in Zaire guided one of his employees to collect the money for personal benefit.
“The complaint reached us this morning and we went on the ground to investigate the facts, in the company of agents from the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC), where we found the person responsible in his office receiving two envelopes containing one million and 650 thousand kwanzas”, he explained. .
Meanwhile, the accused said it was a working capital that the sector uses for intervention work by the mechanized brigade in some critical sections of the province.
The IGAE technician said that the process is going to the instances of the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) next to the court, which should thoroughly investigate the reported facts and give its opinion.
Detention of public managers for alleged embezzlement has been recurrent in Zaire, this being the first of its kind to occur this year.
