Africa-Press – Angola. Traditional authorities of the municipality of Ambuila, in the province of Uíge, defended, in the sádado, a greater publicity of the Battle that took place in that locality, on the 29th of October of 1665.
Speaking at the opening of the bonfire of the JMPLA militants, as part of the political-patriotic tour, the representative of the traditional authorities of Ambuila, Sala Miguel Tuna, said that the dissemination of the Battle of Ambuila should be done in speeches, whorkshops and other meetings, so that everyone is informed.
“357 years have passed since the occurrence of that historical fact in Ambuila, but many Angolans are unaware of the objectives of that confrontation”, he lamented.
He explained that, in the Battle of Ambuila, the local people defended their homeland in the face of colonial oppression.
In turn, the mayor of Mbabza Buela, Vasco Pedro Cassule, said that there should be more research into the Battle of Ambuila, to find out more facts about this historic event.
By the way, he advocated the construction of a historic monument at the place where the battle took place.
The first provincial secretary of JMPLA in Uíge, Faustino Ngunge Simão, explained that the meeting also aimed to explain the events of the Battle of Ambuila to young people and the population in general.
The first municipal secretaries of the 16 municipalities of the province of Uíge, members of the JMPLA and other covid-19 took part in the tour.
