Governor calls for rigor in customs inspection

Africa-Press – Angola. The governor of Lunda Norte, Deolinda Satula Vilarinho, called this Wednesday for greater rigor in customs inspections along the province’s border posts, aiming at combating tax evasion.

Customs inspection focuses on foreign trade activities, that is, on import and export operations.

The minister made this appeal during the opening of the customs forum, promoted by the 7th Tributary Region, which includes the provinces of Lunda Norte, Lunda Sul and Moxico.

Deolinda Vilarinho said that the improvement of customs supervision involves the implementation of a modern technological system and/or electronic security device for monitoring cargo and efficiently combating tax offenses along the province’s border posts.

He defended the implementation of bank branches along the Tchicolondo border post, the largest source of customs revenue collection in the province, to avoid tax evasion.

He added that the fight against fuel smuggling and the illicit trafficking of diamonds should merit increased attention from the General Tax Administration and defense and security bodies.

On the other hand, he stressed that the aim of the tax reform that the country has been carrying out in recent years is to facilitate, simplify and streamline the process of exporting and importing various products, a measure that has attracted foreign investors.

This fact, he continued, implies a greater understanding of customs matters and the reorganization of the facilitation and control system, relying on partners from economic operators, commercial banking and the various key authorities in this process.

He said it was necessary to continue adapting national legislation to the regional and world customs system, in order to respond to the needs of international trade operations.

During the forum, topics such as “border trade and export of fuel”, “control of customs transit using electronic stamps and advantages of domestic transit of goods”, “main changes to the customs tariff” and “entry and exit of currency will be discussed , under the terms of notice No. 6 of the BNA”.
