Africa-Press – Angola. The provincial governor of Luanda, Manuel Homem, received, Wednesday, in audience, the mayor of Busan, a city in the Republic of South Korea, for the signing of a letter of intent aiming at the conclusion of a city twinning agreement from Luanda and Busan.

The governor’s meeting with the mayor of Busan, special envoy of the President of the Republic of South Korea, aimed to implement relations of cooperation and friendship, with the conclusion of a twinning agreement between the “sister cities”.

The articulation with the municipalities, as well as the implementation of the sector’s policies and supervision of the management of primary and secondary education schools, teacher training, secondary and polytechnic institutes, are objectives defined in the letter of intent, which also includes the monitoring of urban infrastructure, including transport, energy, telecommunications and sanitation.

The letter of intent also proposes that the parties promote exchanges by organizing meetings between civil servants and officials on both sides.

The authorities of the Provincial Government of Luanda and the Korean city of Busan are called upon to facilitate the exchange of delegations, within the scope of conferences, events, seminars, fairs, exhibitions, as well as activities that are carried out with the aim of achieving the objective proposed in the letter of intent for twinning, providing technical and human inputs.

Governor Manuel Homem said that the signing of the letter of intent will serve to move towards a twinning agreement between the cities of Luanda and Busan in the near future, with the fundamental aim of strengthening ties in the field of technological development for Angolan companies of startups, reinforce the conditions for sharing knowledge, as well as infrastructure and sanitation resources.

Manuel Homem stressed that the city of Busan is making a turning point in its urban management process, so he would like to strengthen ties between the two cities, with a view to better understanding how land use planning is carried out.

“Because we have several issues that bring us together and one of them has to do with the demographic density of the city, Luanda will be able to benefit from this relationship from an economic, social and cultural point of view”, he said.

Busan Mayor Park Heong-Joon said the twinning agreement aims to strengthen the level of relationship between the two cities.

He pointed out that since there are similarities between the cities, Busan will share its experience with Luanda, in order to support solutions for problems in the health and urban sanitation sector.

“Being that Busan has been making efforts to solve its problems, and because we are experienced in these areas, we are going to help Angola in the mentioned areas”, he said.

The mayor of Busan invited the governor of Luanda to participate in the climate conference, taking place in May this year, in the Republic of Korea.

According to Park Heong-Joon, the governor of Luanda accepted the invitation and the occasion will be used to strengthen cooperation ties.

Busan is a city with a high level of experience in shipbuilding, automobile and multi-industry complexes.
