Africa-Press – Angola. The administration of Viana will continue to support the sports class, aiming at the massification of the various modalities practiced in this district.
The promise was made by the administrator of Viana, Demétrio de Sepúlveda, at the end of a meeting he held, Wednesday, with the African chess and jiu-jitsu champions.
These are Melquisedeque Paulo, African under-9 champion, Jemima Paulo (under-17 champion) and Jaime Sonhy who got third place in the under-17 category, in the continental tournament of the modality, held on the 25th and 26th. February of the current year online.
The three sports science practitioners are affiliated with the Ditrov School, as well as the athlete Ruth Baltazar, African runner-up in Ju-Jitsu.
On the occasion, the administrator of Viana congratulated the athletes for their participation and for the places won, as well as for once again raising the name of Angola and Viana in particular.
Demétrio de Sepúlveda expressed the continued support of the institution he directs to the young champions, so that they continue to have a decent representation in the following competitions.
In turn, Ruth da Cruz Baltazar, African runner-up in the Jiu-jitsu modality, thanked the warm welcome and guaranteed to improve her training even more so that in the next competitions she could raise her champion belt.
It should be noted that as a result of the chess players’ prowess, Angola qualified for the chess school world cup, to be held in the city of Rhodes (Greece), in April of this year.
In addition to the national ambassadors, Africa has athletes from Madagascar, Tunisia, Morocco and Botswana, in a competition to be played in Sub-7, Sub-9, Sub-11, Sub-13, Sub-15 and Sub-17.
