Africa-Press – Angola. As part of the official 24-hour working visit to Angola, the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, is already at the Presidential Palace, in Luanda, for a private meeting with his Angolan counterpart, João Lourenço.
The two Heads of State are expected to review issues related to bilateral cooperation, as well as international current affairs.
The arrival at the Presidential Palace, Emmanuel Macron, who is in Angola at the invitation of President João Lourenço, was received with state honors.
Afterwards, the President of France received welcome greetings from his counterpart João Lourenço and members of the Angolan Executive.
At the end of the meeting, in private, Emmanuel Macron and João Lourenço will speak to the press, according to the program of the visit.
Emmanuel Macron’s agenda in Luanda predicts that the French Head of State will leave Angola this Friday.
Angola and France established diplomatic relations on February 17, 1976. The two countries also have cooperation relations in various areas.
Cooperation between the two countries saw new developments after the official visit of President João Lourenço to France, on 28 May 2018.
Within the framework of bilateral cooperation, more than 70 French companies operate in Angola. Oil exports from Angola to France are around US$400 million.
