Africa-Press – Angola. With funding from the Public Investment Program (PIP), electrification of the municipalities of Catabola and Camacupa, in Bié province, will start within weeks, with a view to increasing the population’s access to electricity.
Assured by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Electricity Distribution Company (ENDE), Hélder Adão, who made known the existence of several electrification projects in municipalities throughout the country, already registered in the PIP for this year.
The official was speaking to journalists after the closure of the VI Extended Board of Directors of ENDE, which, for two days, in Benguela, took stock of the activities of the year 2022 and assessed the budget for 2023.
According to Hélder Adão, the ENDE also plans to start, later this year, the implementation of electrification projects for the municipalities of Andulo and Nharêa, also in Bié province.
Likewise, he referred that the program for expanding the electricity network still covers some municipalities in the province of Cuanza Sul, such as Ebo, Seles and Mussende.
At the moment, said the source, an electrification project is under way in the province of Malanje, that is, in the municipality of Cangandala.
As for the East of the country, he pointed out as a priority the construction of solar power stations, which, in his view, will have an impact on the electrification of the municipalities of Lucapa and Dundo, in the province of Lunda Norte.
Throughout the country, ENDE currently controls one million and 879 thousand customers, with an electrification rate of 43 percent nationwide.
