Africa-Press – Angola. Under the motto “Say no to acts of sexual abuse of minors and domestic violence”’, more than a thousand women from various social strata marched Saturday, in this city, aiming to repudiate such acts.
Sponsored by the Organization of Angolan Women (OMA), the march went through several arteries of the city of Malanje and culminated in a mass act chaired by the second secretary of the Provincial Committee of the MPLA, Nelo de Carvalho, who on the occasion called on women to denounce all acts of domestic violence and against children, with a view to building more harmonious families.
On the other hand, he highlighted the role of OMA in the defense and protection of women’s rights and in their emancipation and in the promotion of gender equality.
On her turn, the first OMA provincial secretary in Malanje, Ana da Purificação, said that the organization has prioritized mobilization actions for the strengthening of families and the preservation of traditions and the cultural entity of peoples, combating the evils that plague the society, with emphasis on domestic violence.
She appealed to OMA militants and sympathizers to strive for this spirit, based on patriotism, responsibility and love for others.
The march marked the opening of the March Woman journey in the province, whose commemorations take place under the motto “OMA committed to the fight for women’s rights and protection of children’s rights”.
