Africa-Press – Angola. The President of Malawi, Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, this Sunday expressed the possibility of traveling to Angola to participate in the meeting of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), to take place in August this year, in Luanda.
The information was provided to the press by the Secretary of State for International Cooperation and Angolan Communities, Domingos Vieira Lopes, in Doha (Qatar), after a meeting that the Malawian statesman held with the Vice-President of Angola, Esperança da Costa, at on the sidelines of the 5th Conference of Least Developed Countries (LDCs).
In this courtesy meeting, Esperança da Costa congratulated Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, outgoing president of the PMD, “for the excellent work carried out” and they exchanged views on the future of the African continent, with the Vice-President of the Republic emphasizing “that Africa must be master of its own destinies”.
According to Domingos Vieira Lopes, Esperança da Costa and Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera reviewed the cooperation relations between Angola and Malawi.
Still on the sidelines of the event, the Vice-President held a courtesy meeting with the President of Zambia, Hakainde Hichilema.
World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)
At another time, the Vice-President granted an audience to the director general of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Daren Tang, who expressed “great interest in continuing to cooperate with Angola”.
As a biologist, Esperança da Costa drew attention to the need to make better use of the knowledge of local populations and to work towards promoting actions with a view to providing them with knowledge for a marriage with science.
International Atomic Energy Agency
The Vice-President of Angola also received, in audience, the Deputy Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Hua Liu, who proposes to work on a diagnosis in relation to cancer research, opening up the possibility of supporting students Angolans in this area and the creation of a similar center in the country.

According to the Secretary of State, Hua Liu spoke with the perspective of working with the Ministry of Energy and Water based on the existing effective collaboration, in order to give more substance to the cooperation.
United Nations Conference on Trade and Development
The secretary general of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) announced that a new area of cooperation will be entered into, related to the blue economy, within the scope of the diversification of the economy, and the creation, in Angola, of more employment and quality, for the youth, who represent a high percentage of the population.
Rebeca Grynspan made these statements to the press, after an audience granted by the Vice-President of the Republic of Angola, on the sidelines of the 5th Conference of Least Developed Countries (LDC), in which both are participating in the Qatari capital, Doha.
“It was a very interesting conversation, as you know, Angola and UNCTAD have been cooperating for over five years and I am sure that Angola, as a country, is a model to be followed by other states”, he declared.
Rebeca Grynspan expressed pride in the result of investments in Angola.
Angola-Brazil Cooperation
Another entity received, in audience, by Esperança da Costa was the director of the Brazilian Cooperation Agency, Ruy Carlos Pereira, with a view to raising the level of Angola-Brazil cooperation, in different areas, mainly in the economic and business sectors.
