Africa-Press – Angola. The Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, said this Wednesday, in Doha, that the presence of Angola, at the highest level, in the Conference of Least Developed Countries shows its commitment to reach of the Sustainable Development Goals in the transition to a Middle Income Country.
Esperança da Costa reaffirmed the commitment of the authorities to work towards achieving a graduation, in the near future, meeting all the criteria contained in the Doha Action Plan for a safe transition.
The Vice-President of the Republic is in the capital of Qatar, participating in the work of the United Nations Conference on Least Developed Countries, which takes place between 5 and 9 March, on behalf of the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço.
According to him, with the participation in the event, Angola sees an opportunity to be able to share experiences with other countries about advanced players, especially those who, within the scope of the Istanbul action plan, have already taken this path and have already graduated, namely difficulties and main obstacles encountered.
Angola is working with all countries in the Doha Action Plan that sets the course for achieving the SDGs), for all countries, but above all so that each sovereign State can find its own path, within the scope of its own development for a smooth transition, a safe and sustainable graduation, he declared.
Therefore, he continued, Angola needs partnerships, and this is a great opportunity for partnerships, both at the regional level, and with partners that are financial organizations that support development.
In his view, the conference takes place at a time when countries are recovering from the various interconnected multilateral crises, such as pandemics, geopolitical conflicts, and it is within this framework that, with the accentuation of natural disasters and climate change, it is necessary to find a common platform.
Esperança da Costa considered it important to discuss, see and identify, on the part of international organizations, among developed countries, how other countries belonging to the group of Least Developed Countries can, in fact, face all the obstacles that limit overcoming structural constraints .
Esperança da Costa added that on Friday the Doha Action Plan will be approved, in which the country also contributed, adding that, “from then on, Angola has to include the actions contained therein in what is its National Plan of Development, in its national objectives, in order to be able to identify the best path for the best transition and with sustainability to be able to graduate”.
