Africa-Press – Angola. The female handball team of 1o de Agosto won Tuesday, in the country’s capital, the 6th edition of the March Women’s Tournament, by beating Petro de Luanda, by just 22-21, in the final game, played at the Citadel Pavilion.
At halftime in the match, which took place on International Women’s Day (March 8), the “military” team was at a disadvantage (11-12) by just one goal.
Meeting guided by balance from beginning to end, with the Augustines presenting their main units, contrary to the opponent, who had part of his junior team on the court.
In the second half, successive draws (14-14, 16-16, 18-18, 20-20) and in the last move, coach José Chuma’s team scored the goal that allowed them to win the trophy.
Prior to third place, 1o de Agosto B won, by 33-30, against Sporting de Luanda, a challenge that at half-time recorded a victory in favor of the “Leoninas”, by 20-17.
The tournament, to celebrate the Angolan women’s day, marked on the 2nd of this month, and the women’s international, to be celebrated this Wednesday, also included the participation of teams from Progresso Sambizanga, Maculusso, Hadja and 1o de Agosto junior .
Thus, the two best teams in Angola and the African continent provided yet another show worthy of the sport in the women’s class.
