Africa-Press – Angola. Archer Mangueira, launched this Wednesday in Moçâmedes, Namibe province, a photographic book entitled “lNamibe in My Eyes”, with 291 pages and which portrays the life of the people of this region in the south of the country.
At the presentation of the book, the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Environment, Filipe Zau, said that “Namibe in my Eyes” portrays a journey through the five municipalities of the province.
Said to be a portrait through good photos about the factual reality of the culture of the people, its socio-cultural specificity, the flora and fauna, the colonial buildings, the road of leba, the cave paintings, as well as the exoticism of the Iona park .
According to the minister, the book also portrays a desert that plunges into a sea rich in fish and shellfish, with an incomparable sunset.
“Ahead continued, in the middle of the Atlantic, the historic island of Santa Helena, where there are descendants of the slave trade.
I said that this is a book almost in text, because its author intentionally conveys it through good photography.
“This is a book that you see and don’t read, because the words have become images and these convey emotions and give us kisses as if they had a mouth”, he said.
The author Archer Mangueira said, on the occasion, that the inspiration for the photobook comes after his appointment as governor of Namibe, having as his first concern to deeply know the people, their way of life and their territory
“I immediately realized, as I traveled across the province, that the sensations I was experiencing could not be kept to myself”, stated the author.
The 150 copies were offered free of charge to entities in Namibe.
