Africa-Press – Angola. The sprinters Juliana Moko and Regina Dumbo won, on Thursday night, the silver and bronze medals, respectively, at the opening of the International Meeting taking place in Morocco, qualifying event for the “Paris’2024” Paralympic Games.

In the 100 meters specialty, for the T11 class, total visual impairment, Moko took silver with a time of 13 seconds and 19 tenths.

With this feat, the athlete from the province of Benguela improves her mark compared to that obtained in an identical competition, recently held in Tunisia, where she won bronze with a time of 13.98.

Dumbo, from the province of Huambo, won the bronze medal with a time of 13:20.

In the previous race, in Tunis, he occupied, at this same distance, the second position on the podium, despite having a superior time of 13.86.

The gold medal went to Brazil. Geber Santos beat the competition with a time of 12.49 and was not far from the World Record in the distance, belonging to herself of 11.85, beaten on September 27, 2019.

On Thursday, Angola also evolved with Paulo Adelino, who won the silver medal in the 100 meters for athletes in the T12 class, partially blind.

The sportsman from the province of Huambo clocked, in the second position, the time of 12 minutes and 02 tenths, against 11.11 of the first classified, the Moroccan Bouja Mouncef.

The other Angolan, André Oliveira, took fourth place with a time of 12.19, behind Kenyan Esogon Brian, with 12.15.

Manuel Jaime, in the 1500 m, for the T46 class, athletes with an upper limb amputation, took the time of 4 minutes, 09 seconds and 79 tenths, ending up in fifth place, against 4:06:06 of the Tunisian Agoubi Bechir, in fourth.

The specialty was won by Emoug David of Uganda with a time of 33.53.51. Kenya’s Kipruto Félix took second place with a time of 3.59.98, followed by compatriot Sang Wesley with a time of 4.01. 88.

This Friday, Angola enters the Marrakech stadium track again with Regina Dumbo, Emiloide Adelino, Beatriz Catiava and Juliana Moko, in the 200 meters class T11.

These national athletes will have, as in the 100 meters, strong competition from the Brazilian Gilber dos Santos.

The record in this specialty belongs to the Chinese Liu Cuiqing of 24.39, broken on August 30, 2019.

Manuel Jaime, also back on the scene now in the 800 m. The World Record is 1.51.82.

The competition, which takes place in the city of Marrakesh, ends on the 13th, Monday.
