Africa-Press – Angola. A photographic exhibition that portrays the life and work of urban and rural women marked Thursday, in Lubango, the 3rd edition of the week of women in technology, within the scope of the 2nd and 8th of March.
This is an event organized by Mediateca do Lubango in partnership with Unitel, with the objective of creating a space for sharing information and knowledge regarding the struggles to safeguard specific rights of this fringe of society, in addition to continuing to strengthen them through demystification in the field of science and technology.
More than 30 different paintings by local artists are on display, including the zungueira woman, the rural woman adapted to ICTs, among other aspects that, directly or indirectly, contribute to the economic and social growth of the country.
On the occasion, the director of the Mediateca do Lubango, Wínia Agostinho, said that it serves to awaken women’s interest in technologies, social innovation, sociocultural entrepreneurship and the principle of sharing knowledge.
He expressed that one of the objectives of the event is also to raise media libraries to the highest level in projects of social inclusion, plural and open to communities.
Throughout the day, topics related to science and technology are being debated, such as a women’s development strategy, a strategy for the Technological Inclusion of Women, the role of technology in social communication, the importance of Information Security, the impact of representativeness of technological solutions, opportunities for women in technology.
For Friday, topics on digital transformation and higher education in the context of women’s development, female leadership and technological inclusion as a way of women’s personal and professional development, technology and collaborative networks in the fight against domestic violence are reserved.
The institution took the opportunity to honor the young environmentalist, Fernanda René, for being the most influential in southern Africa under 40 years of age and for having work to improve the environment in Angola and in the recovery of mangroves.
In 2022, the Mediatheque honored two figures, namely Maria João Chipalavela (Vice Governor of Huíla for the political, social and economic sector) and Maria Sambo (Minister of Higher Education and Innovation).
