Africa-Press – Angola. The Government of Cuando Cubango Saturday launched the first empowerment, training and assistance project for 500 female heads of families across the province.
Called Mommy Lift, the project is part of the March Women’s Days.
According to the governor of the province, José Martins, who was speaking at the event, all those women who are in rural areas will be covered, providing them with means and supplements that enable them to generate income for themselves and their dependents.
He assured that the government will always be available to continue to promote initiatives that aim to boost good practices among women, with the aim of multiplying the bases of sustainability of the population.
On the other hand, the governor underlined that the promotion of gender equality is now a challenge for the Angolan Executive, centered on development policies, with a view to sustainable development objectives.
He highlighted that the female layer has always shown its performance and spirit of courage to face adversities, a skill that was demonstrated in the fight for national independence, in the conquest of peace and in the process of national reconciliation, among other benefits.
For this reason, it reaffirmed its total engagement in the materialization of all related programs, requesting the sensitivity and understanding of the other actors to make available to this target group economic conditions for their empowerment.
At the ceremony, six women considered heroes with different incentives were honored for their contribution to the development of Cuando Cubango, in various sectors of social and economic impact.
On the occasion, the government proceeded, in a first phase, with the delivery of 52 women’s empowerment kits, with emphasis on five motorized (kaleluia), suitcases composed of fish box, chicken, cooler box, 5.5 KVA generators.
Wheelbarrows, vegetable oil, pasta boxes, detergents, egg boxes, milk packets, bags of sugar, yeast, wheat flour, among other components, were also delivered.
