Africa-Press – Angola. The provincial governor of Uíge, José Carvalho da Rocha, defended, this Friday, the need to transform the region into a digital zone, taking into account the challenges of development.
The government official, who expressed this position at the launch of the Youth Training Plan and the holding of the first edition of the Provincial Programming Marathon, said it was the desire of the Government of Uíge to make the region increasingly digital.
On the initiative of the Luanda Institute of Technologies (ITEL), the Youth Training Plan and the first Provincial Programming Marathon has a partnership with the Media Library Network of Angola and the Technological Center of Uíge.
José Carvalho da Rocha pointed out the installation of the Technological Center of Uíge as one of the bets of the local government to transform the province into a digital region.
For this reason, he also highlighted the need for young people to be autonomous and acquire more and more knowledge, especially in the area of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and to have the capacity to produce a series of services.
He recalled that nowadays people cannot live without ICTs, taking into account the challenges of world development.
“Knowledge is what sets us free and brings us dreams.
This is what we want for our youth”, said the governor.
On his turn, the general director of the Luanda Institute of Technologies (ITEL), Claúdio Gonçalves, said that the Youth Training Plan is a program of the Executive which aims to provide quality technical and technological training for young people free of charge.
He said that the program allows the initiation and improvement of scientific, technical and technological knowledge, so that young people can work in public companies and create their businesses.
As a result, he highlighted the importance of technological training for young people, aiming at the development of the province.
During the meeting, lectures were given on “The importance of technological training as a factor in local development” and “The challenges of youth training”, within the scope of the National Plan for Training Staff.
The meeting was attended by students, teachers, among other guests.
