Africa-Press – Angola. The new deputy governor for the Political, Social and Economic sector of Huambo, Angelino Edmundo Elavoco, pledged Monday, in this city, to provide greater follow-up to the Integrated Program for Local Development and Combating Poverty (PIDLCP).
Angelino Edmundo Elavoco was speaking at the ceremony of presentation to members of the provincial government and exchange of portfolios with his predecessor, hosted by the acting governor of Huambo, Elemano Francisco Inácio.
In his speech, he referred that monitoring the PIDLCP in the province will be one of the main priorities, in the fulfillment of its functions, in order to allow the program to generate an effective impact in improving the living conditions of the populations, especially the most vulnerable.
In this way, he continued, it is intended that, annually, it will be possible to present, in balance, the number of effectively beneficiary families and those that were withdrawn from the extreme poverty line with the execution of the actions of the program, which counts on the availability, monthly , of 25 million kwanzas for each municipality.
Still in his speech, the new vice-governor promised to be a faithful assistant to the governor of the province, Lotti Nolika, in the execution of public programs in the political, social and economic domains, proposing the most consistent and coherent solutions for the needs of the communities of region, as well as to base its conduct, among others, on the principles of legality, public probity and impartiality.
In turn, the acting governor of Huambo, Elmano Francisco, reminded the new member of the province’s governing apparatus of the degree of responsibility of his position in guaranteeing the effectiveness of governance in the region.
On the other hand, he thanked the outgoing vice-governor for his commitment and dedication to the province’s development actions, throughout his mandate.
Angelino Edmundo Elavoco, who was appointed on the 2nd of February and sworn in on the 9th of March by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, replaces Francisco Jamba Kata, who left office more than five months ago.
In the province of Huambo, located in the central region of the country, live two million 756 thousand and 159 inhabitants, distributed in 11 municipalities and 37 communes, three thousand 207 localities, of which 341 are urban and two thousand 886 villages, in a territorial extension of 35 thousand 771 square kilometers.
