Africa-Press – Angola. The proposal of the new Political-Administrative Division (DPA), which foresees raising the communes to the category of municipalities, will deconcentrate employment opportunities in favor of young people in rural areas.
Tuesday, the secretary of the Provincial Youth Council (CPJ) in Cunene, Praia Chivela, said that with the DPA the communes covered will gain various investments and jobs for young people.
He recognized that this initiative by the Angolan Government demonstrates the great concern in taking the youth out of unemployment, aiming at improving their social conditions and well-being of the communities.
“We noticed that the biggest investments, in terms of building social infrastructure, happen more in cities and towns. If the communes become municipalities, the reality will be different”, he said.
He considered the measure assertive and that, for him, it will combat the population exodus that is taking place, with many young people leaving their areas of origin, for the cities, in search of better opportunities.
Praia Chivela highlighted the importance of the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM), with works in various areas taking place in all communes, opening doors to the first job for local young people.
The administrative proposal, in relation to Cunene province, which has an area of 87,342 square kilometers and 17,491 million inhabitants, foresees the increase from six to 18 municipalities.
The draft Bill for the Amendment of the Political-Administrative Division of Angola aims to improve the quality of life and bring basic social services closer to citizens.
The Bill, already in possession of the National Assembly, provides, in essence, to increase the number from 18 to 20 provinces and increase from 164 to 581 municipalities in the country.
