Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo, assured, this Tuesday, that the Angolan government will continue to take steps so that more investments in the exploration, development and production of hydrocarbons take place.
Other steps consist of the continuous improvement of all the necessary legislation for this activity to be carried out in a balanced way and to attract more investors.
Diamantino Azevedo was speaking at the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding to improve the contractual terms of blocks 30, 44 and 45 of the Namibe Basin, between the National Concessionaire, ANPG and the consortium established between ExxonMobil and Sonangol Pesquisa e Produção.

“We are increasingly convinced that without the hydrocarbons and other mineral resources that the country has, it will be difficult for us to achieve development, fight poverty, including energy poverty”, he defended.
Also according to the minister, in the current context, the world needs to know that oil will continue to be important for the planet for a long time to come.
Therefore, he said that Angola will continue with oil activity in Angola, which will require more attention to environmental issues, underlining that measures continue to be taken so that the actions of the extractive industry develop taking into account climate change.
As for the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, he stressed that for the Angolan Government it is an important moment because it is part of the strategy of the need to manage to maintain a certain stability in oil production in the country, and to be able to continue to explore this resource for some time.
Our congratulations to ExxonMobil and Sonangol for this undertaking and we hope that it will effectively be implemented in all aspects and in due time”, augured the official, expressing institutional support.
For Diamantino Azevedo, the presence of the vice-president of ExxonMobil, Neil Chapman, demonstrates the importance that the multinational attaches to the event.
