Africa-Press – Angola. The director of the Provincial Office of Former Combatants and Veterans of the Fatherland in Lunda Sul, António Upiti, defended, this Wednesday, greater dissemination of the March 15, 1961.

It is the Day of the Expansion of the Armed Struggle for National Liberation, against Portuguese colonialism.

António Upiti, who was speaking on the occasion, said that publicizing the Day for the Expansion of the Armed Struggle for National Liberation is essential for new generations to learn about the country’s historical path and seek inspiration from these events.

The director recalled, in his speech,

that the 15th of March was the support of several victories that Angola registered, among which, the National Independence and the conquest of effective peace in 2002.

For his part, former combatant Zangado Samutete, 75 years old, said that one of the ways to honor the memory of this fringe is to educate the new generation on the basis of patriotism.

Those were very difficult times, he continued, but with determination, perspicacity and the spirit of victory it was possible to win, towards the progress of an ever better Angola.

In Lunda Sul, the date was marked with the laying of a wreath on the bust of the unknown soldier, by the provincial governor, Daniel Neto.
