INADEC reiterates the obligation to use the complaints book

Africa-Press – Angola. The head of provincial services at the National Institute for Consumer Protection (INADEC) in Malanje, Carlos Correia, reiterated yesterday the mandatory use of the complaints book in commercial establishments, to prevent conflicts between consumers and economic operators.

The person in charge made this appeal during a lecture on “The importance of using a complaint book”, as part of the World Consumer Day, which is being celebrated yesterday, underlining that the said instrument allows consumers to claim their rights.

He explained that the complaints book also represents a means of inspection, which contributes to improving the quality of services provided by merchants.

As a result, INADEC registered, from January until the present date, 20 complaints, which resulted in the refund of 470 thousand kwanzas to customers.

He recalled that in 2022, the institution notified 103 complaints and intermediated the return of 14 million and 30 thousand kwanzas to injured consumers.

Established by John Kennedy in the United States in 1962, Consumer Day was adopted worldwide by the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) in 1985.

The date aims to increase information and awareness of the guarantee of consumer rights, established through policies adopted by the public authorities.
