Africa-Press – Angola. Twenty million and 500 thousand kwanzas is the global value that will be distributed/distributed to the seven categories that make up the “Catoca Journalism Award”, announced this Wednesday, in Luanda, by the management of this society from Minas Gerais.
Of the total amount, five million kwanzas will be for the category “Grande Prêmio Catoca de Jornalismo”, three million for “Prémio Jornalista do Leste”, two million and 500 thousand for “Premio Reportagem” and the same amount for “Prémio Interview”, “ National Language Journalism Award”, “Image Award” and “Best Announcer Award”, respectively.
According to the president of the jury, Teixeira Cândido, applications to compete in the respective categories can be submitted, in digital format and sealed envelope, from this Wednesday (March 15th) until April 10th, 2023, at the headquarters of Sociedade Mineira de Catoca, in Luanda, or sent to the email: [email protected] .
To this end, the also secretary general of the Union of Angolan Journalists (SJA) clarified that potential competitors must present journalistic works published in the most varied media, namely news agencies, newspapers, magazines, radio, television, among other media. large circulation.
The official, who was speaking during the launching ceremony of the first edition of the Catoca Journalism Award, said that all types of journalistic content, such as economic, political, sports, social, cultural and others, can compete for the award.
According to Teixeira Cândido, the award regulations “do not include content published on social networks, such as facebook.
On the occasion, he explained that the works of journalists from news agencies, when published/recovered by other means of social communication, will only be considered valid if there is an indication/citation of the origin and the respective authors.
In turn, the director of human resources at Sociedade Mineira de Catoca, José Ngoia, underlined that the implementation of this award is part of the social responsibility of the mining company, with a view to encouraging the work of the journalistic class.
According to the leader, the award also aims to awaken the creative and innovative sense of Angolan journalists, fulfilling the true mission of bringing quality information to the public.
National and annual in scope, the Catoca Journalism Award is open to all Angolan journalists, resident or not in Angola, who translate and publish their work in the national media.QCB/AC
