Africa-Press – Angola. The provincial government of Namibe adopted a set of sustainable measures and immediate implementation to ensure the survival of around 100,000 people from vulnerable communities, in all municipalities, due to the exponential increase in the population affected by hunger.
This information is expressed in the final communiqué of the 1st Ordinary Session of the provincial government, held yesterday. The measures were announced in the memorandum presented by the deputy governor’s office for the Technical Sector and Infrastructure on the drought situation in the province.
The communiqué states that a plan was drawn up for the installation of community kitchens associated with community gardens so that, on an ongoing basis, food assistance can be provided, as well as creating a mechanism for direct interaction between administrations and vulnerable groups, through social support. and monitoring of nutritional status.
The community kitchens provide daily service with activities aimed at supplying food to groups vulnerable to hunger and under nutritional deficiency, which will be monitored periodically until they reach satisfactory levels of nutrition, with a view to covering more than 100,000 people.
Follow-up actions will be carried out by community development agents and the medical staff of the respective municipalities. The implementation of these kitchens represents an immediate solution, for the acquisition of essential basic products, to guarantee the food and nutritional security of the affected families and with few survival resources.
BUAP has served more than 40,000 citizens
Namibe registered 43,743 citizens at the Single Service Desks (BUAP) level. According to the local government authorities, despite the results of this process being close to the established goals, there is a need to intensify the awareness campaigns and mobilization of the target audience, in order to adhere to the BUAP and update the electoral register using, for the In effect, traditional authorities, religious leaders, residents’ commission, among other entities.
According to the final communiqué of the 1st Ordinary Session of the provincial government, so far, the provincial office of Registries and Administrative Modernization, service centers were installed in the Municipal Administration of Moçâmedes, centrality of Praia Amélia, communal administrations of Lucira and Bentiaba, Bibala, Capangombe and Lola communes, at the BUÉ facilities in Tômbwa, Virei and at the Municipal Library in Camucuio.
The members of the Government were informed about the statistical maps of Birth Registration and Issuance of Identity Card of the Provincial Delegation of Justice and Human Rights, within the scope of the Massification Program, referring to the year 2021, which indicates the issuance of 103,503 registrations of Birth and the allocation of 52,906 identity cards.
