Africa-Press – Angola. Users of Rua das Condutas, in the municipality of Cazenga (Luanda), are calling for the immediate conclusion of the rehabilitation works on the same street, as the delay is causing constraints on traffic flow.
The street is about three kilometers long, starting from Fifth Avenue (near the TCUL base) to Rua das Pedrinhas, the border area between Cazenga and the municipality of Viana.
The section already has two kilometers and 600 meters paved (2,600 km2), which corresponds to 90 percent of physical execution, this Thursday, the responsible for the contract, engineer Pedro Afonso.
The consignment notice took place in the first quarter of 2022 and the delivery period would be seven months, but due to “some constraints, encountered in the course of the work, it has not happened to date”, claimed engineer Pedro Afonso.
Residents and motorists are “dissatisfied” with the delay in the work, which falls within the scope of the Integrated Municipal Intervention Plan (PIIM) and is estimated at two billion Kwanzas.
For users, anxiety about seeing the road open and in good condition is one of the concerns, as they want to save money and avoid wear and tear on car parts on a degraded road.
Kalawenda resident, Isabel Luís, is concerned about the sewers without covers and where garbage is dumped, which could cause injuries and/or deaths.
Another resident of the same district, Jorge Manuel, points out that the lack of containers close to residences is the basis for the disposal of waste in the sewers under construction on Rua das Condutas and on sidewalks along the road.
Adão Manuel, a driver, appealed to the person in charge of the work to install speed bumps along the road, to avoid road accidents, since even without the completion of the work, there are cases of pedestrians being run over, due to excessive motorcycle speed. -taxis and taxi drivers.
