Africa-Press – Angola. The provincial governor of Malanje, Marcos Nhunga, challenged public managers on Thursday to be more creative in managing public affairs and defining the population’s priorities, with a view to addressing the scarcity of financial resources.
The official launched this challenge at the swearing-in ceremony of new directors of provincial offices and recently appointed municipal administrators, having asked those responsible to do “the possible with little” and to give priority to the most pressing problems of the population.
“We may have a lot of resources, but if creativity is lacking, we will not reach the set goals”, he said, adding that there is no time to lose, as the country and the province require more work from the staff, who also appealed for a posture based on dialogue , regardless of the party affiliation of each citizen.
He pointed out the improvement of access roads, basic sanitation, energy, water, health, education and agriculture as the lines of action of the new local government apparatus, with a view to guaranteeing better living conditions for citizens.
Another recommendation relates to the application of greater rigor in hiring companies to carry out works in the municipalities, so as to put an end to the construction of low-quality projects.
On the other hand, the governor encouraged those responsible to establish partnerships and reduce bureaucracy in services, with a view to attracting more investors in the province, given its potential in different areas, most of which are yet to be explored.
Addressing specifically the new “tenant” of the Municipal Administration of Malanje, Marcos Nhunga guided the improvement of the city’s image, as it is the “postcard” of the province, having highlighted the need to pay greater attention to the social situation in the neighborhoods of the periphery.
Considering the fact that most of those who took office are young, the governor said he believed in the dynamism and capacity of this fringe, which he said he hoped would correspond to the aspirations of the population.
