Africa-Press – Angola. The V Ordinary Congress of the Revolutionary United Youth of Angola (JURA), a youth body of the UNITA party, started yesterday, Thursday, in Luanda, with more than five hundred delegates from the country’s 18 provinces.
The conclave takes place under the motto “JURA – Innovate and Mobilize to Win” and will elect either Manuel Armando Nelito Ekuikui or João Lucombo, who are running for the position of general secretary of JURA, replacing Agostinho Kamuango.
In the opening speech of the event, the president of UNITA, Adalberto da Costa Júnior, asked those present to reflect on political and ideological formation, aiming to illuminate the political thoughts of young people, in order to be participants in the strategic action of the party.
He recalled that, at all times in its history, UNITA’s strength was always rooted in its youth.
Until Friday, in addition to the internal life of the organization, congressmen will address issues related to employment, housing, among other social conditions.
JURA was founded on July 18, 1974, by David Janotão, who was its first president.
