Africa-Press – Angola. One hundred members of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), from training centers in the provinces of Huambo and Moxico, are taking part, since Thursday, in this city, in the first course of basic prison instruction.

The training falls within the scope of the strategy of the General Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces to provide staff with theoretical and practical tools to improve service provision in the country’s Military Penitentiary Units.

At the opening of the course, the head of the Penitentiary Services Directorate of the General Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces, Lieutenant General João Baptista Suzi, said that the Military Penitentiary Services represent a demanding and delicate task, which is why the continuous training of staff is yourself as important.

The official appealed to the graduates to respect the Constitution of the Republic and the other laws in force in the country, while exercising their profession, under penalty of incurring a crime.

On his turn, the director of Quéssua Prison, João da Cruz Lima, recalled that the specific mission of the trainees will be to secure the prison facilities, without harming the rights of the inmates.

The basic penitentiary instruction course lasts 45 days and will address issues related to prison security, internal order, human rights, among others.
