Africa-Press – Angola. The artists Chelsea Dinorath and Selda were, on Friday night, the big winners of the top radio station Luanda 2022, as they were distinguished with two categories, marking the return of the contest five years later.
Chelsea Dinorath was winner of the best newcomer and best female voice categories, while Selda was best ballad of the year and afrojazz.
The announcement of the winners, which took place at Tenda da Baía, was preceded by a tribute to the city of Luanda, for a period of 40 minutes in “Cantares de Luanda”, with the artists Nguami Maka, Euclides da Lomba, Maya Zuda, Claudeth Tichzungo , Lio Francis, Jojó Gouveia, Kanú André, Gelson Castro and Alexandra Bento, accompanied by Banda FM.
The contest also consecrated in the version of the year category, Jojó Gouveia, Gospel, Miguel Buila, R&B, Biura and Dreezy, Rap, Deezy, Folklore, Baló Januário and revelation male voice, Anderson Mario.
During the consecration gala of the most loved ones in Luanda, the groups Ingomblock, afro beat fusion and Real Drogadinho were awarded the prize for best Kuduro of the year, while Gabriel Tchiema received the Career prize.
For best kizomba, the public chose Nikila de Sousa, male voice, Halison Paixão, guetto Zouk, Gerilson Israel and best semba for Taxas and Tatá Almeida.
The winners received a diploma, medal and a trophy.
More than 600 people present at the gala vibrated and danced to the rhythm of the winners’ songs at the end of the gala.
Rosa Rock, Noite e Dia, Nova Energia, Jorge Servante, Tito Paris, Bi-Max, Djs Mania, Chico Viegas, Lutonda and producer Hochi Fu were honored.
Rangel’s House of Culture “Nzinga Bande” and the Kilamba Cultural Center also saw their work recognised.
The gala was also marked by a moment of emotion, by the brief words of thanks from Weza Caiu Mendes, widow of the musician Nagrelha who died last year, who was also one of the honorees that night.
The announcement and the first round of voting took place in November last year.
In January, the artists qualified for the next stage were presented and in March, the three most voted, in each category.
This edition was also marked by the change of the date of realization, in this month of March, contrary to what happened previously on the occasion of the 25th of January, Day of the city of Luanda.
The organization informed that the next editions will be carried out within the scope of the celebrations of Rádio Luanda Day, February 4th.
This year, the Evaluation Board was introduced, chaired by the singer Gersy Pegado and made up of Maneco Vieira Dias, Salas Neto, Raimundo Salvador, Edson Macedo, Malaryah and Hamilton Domingos.
The Top Rádio Luanda competition aims to recognize and value art through the quality of the music produced and to promote the Angolan identity.
