Governor praises the team's commitment to removing rubble

Africa-Press – Angola. The governor of the province of Luanda, Manuel Homem, praised, this Sunday, the effort of the multisectoral team involved in the removal, in less than 48 hours, of the rubble of building no 41 of Avenida Comandante Valódia, which collapsed on Saturday morning.

Speaking this evening, in a brief meeting with those involved in this task, the official considered the activity a success.

Manuel Homem recognized not only the commitment in removing the rubble from the six-story building, but also the prompt intervention in the evacuation of the 18 families that resided in it, allowing that there were no human victims.

“Splendid work in the face of a situation that happened unexpectedly. I have no other words than thank you very much and we are together for other challenges that life proposes to us”, underlined the governor of Luanda.

The work involved 934 staff from various inland bodies, with emphasis on those from the Civil Protection and Fire Service, in addition to volunteers from public companies. Ninety-two vehicles, including trucks and tippers, were used in the operation.

The lack of maintenance and changes that impacted the useful life of the structure were at the root of the collapse of building 41, early this Saturday, on Avenida Comandante Valódia, in Luanda.
