Africa-Press – Angola. Performing arts makers in the capital city of Lubango, Huíla province, defended Monday, the inclusion of theater as a discipline in public and private institutions.
When addressing the theme on the occasion of World Theater Day (March 27), the actors stressed that the inclusion of the subject in the teaching curriculum will give the student more possibilities to develop communication and expression skills, as well as to interpret, contextualize , decipher and assimilate the different codes of artistic production.
The actress, for more than 20 years, of the Kandimbas de Santa Cecília group, Rosa Quirino, considered that theater in schools will promote sociability, as well as help to overcome shyness and foster the improvement of verbal and body communication, increasing self-esteem. -esteem of the child.
The director and actor of the aforementioned group, Augusto Antero, considers that theater “constitutes one of the most beautiful arts of representation”, hence the need to be triggered at the base (schools), so that children have a healthy psycho-motor growth .
In turn, the provincial theater coordinator, José Diniz, said that efforts are being made with a view to inserting this art as a discipline in public and private schools based in Lubango.
“It is a difficult task, but not impossible. We believe that in the near future, given the potential of this art in the province, the government will open doors for its insertion in schools”, he said.
Actors complain about lack of theaters
This lack of rooms has largely conditioned the development of art in the province of Huíla, as theater groups resort to improvised locations.
The actor with more than 30 years of artistic career in the theater business, Timóteo Júnior, advocated the “urgent” need to build appropriate rooms.
Actor Delfin Ndalila considered the investment in the sector to be pertinent, especially with the creation of modern spaces, with technical conditions for the performing arts, for better representation and accommodation of spectators.
In the same vein, the delegate of the Union of Artists and Composers (Unac-SA), in Huíla, Serafim Afonso, asked the local government to include this concern in its projects, for the sake of the quality of theatre, poetry and dance.
He stressed that making a living from theater in Angola is only possible “when there are suitable rooms for the purpose, because the scarcity delays the incentive of more amateur and professional actors who want to enter the world of arts.
