Writer calls for greater youth commitment to preserving peace

Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan writer Abílio Ismael Jamba appealed this Friday, in the city of Huambo, for a greater commitment of the youth with the preservation of peace, through actions that promote social harmony.

The writer made this appeal while speaking about peace, during a conference promoted by the Provincial Youth Council (CPJ) in Huambo, in the light of the “Eu sou Angola” project, framed in the celebrations of the Day of Peace and National Reconciliation, to be marked by if the 4th of April.

The lecturer considered it essential that youth, as the living force of society, reaffirm their commitment to actions that guarantee social harmony in the country, in order to contribute to the realization of the challenges of the Angolan State of preserving peace, consolidating political stability and national reconciliation.

For this purpose, the lecturer said, on the occasion, that this segment of the population must know how to respect freedom, stability and peaceful coexistence in society, refraining from anti-social acts, as well as the dissemination and sharing of messages, especially on social networks, which promote disorder, insecurity and malaise.

In his opinion, these tasks are fundamental in the process of maintaining the political and social stability that the country has experienced since 2022, with the achievement of peace, in order to safeguard the legacy of those who fought hard for this “precious asset” and more important for Angolans, after achieving National Independence, on November 11, 1975.

“In addition to political, economic or military agreements, peace also depends, and in a profound way, on the unanimous, sincere and sustainable commitment of people in a society, especially young people, in its preservation, through the reinforcement of dialogue and tolerance between citizens from various social strata, in favor of the consolidation of the democratic State based on the rule of law in Angola”, he stressed.

During the dissertation, Abílio Ismael defined peace as being a special and indisputable good at all levels of society, as it allows the implementation of projects that promote the socio-economic development of the country.

“In times of war, young people cannot graduate from a higher education institution, you cannot build schools, hospitals, project the future and other dreams aimed at the growth of a nation” he recalled.

In turn, the executive secretary of CPJ Huambo, João Lara Macuva Hotalala, assured that his organization will continue to carry out activities with the aim of raising awareness among the youth of the province about the need to practice actions that guarantee social well-being. , with emphasis on peace, as the greatest asset conquered by the Angolan people.

According to the leader of the youth platform in this region of the central plateau, peace must be preserved, jointly and non-negotiably, regardless of the citizens’ religious or political beliefs.

In another part of his speech, João Lara defended continuous reflections by society on the situation of youth employability and technical-professional training, in order to find strategies to reduce youth unemployment and social inequalities, which, in his opinion , have largely undermined the climate of political and social stability in the country.

Municipal administration celebrates in advance

In parallel, the Administration of Huambo celebrated, this Thursday, in advance, in the village of Cachaca, commune of Chipipa, the 21 years of Peace and National Reconciliation in Angola, with a lecture on the theme “Gains of peace” .
