Africa-Press – Angola. The eleven men’s football team from the municipality of Massango won Friday the 11th edition of the provincial championship of school sports, defeating Malanje in the final by 4-1, through the marking of great penalties.
The two teams were tied at zero balls in the first half of the game, but the goals only came to pass in the 55th and 65th minutes of the second half.
The school tournament had the participation of 28 teams in the disciplines of athletics, handball, basketball and football-11, and determined the first classified of each modality that will dispute the national inter-school championship that will take place in August in the province of Moxico.
The women’s soccer formation from the Health Technician Training Institute of the municipality of Malanje was crowned champion, while in athletics, the Sagrado Coração de Jesus College was the big winner of the women’s competition.
In handball, the sports initiation college (Malanje) was the big winner in both classes.
The same teaching institution was also crowned winner in men’s basketball, while the peace and love school (Malanje) took the title in women’s.
The winners received cups and medals as prizes.
At the end of the event, the director of the Provincial Office for Education, Manuel Osório, praised the initiative, stressing that sport contributes to the academic success of students and allows identifying new talents.
Six of the province’s 14 municipalities participated in the championship, namely Calandula, Massango, Malanje, Cangandala, Quela and Luquembo.
