Africa-Press – Angola. More than 500 citizens of Moxico province will be literate over a period of five months, as part of a campaign promoted by the Evangelical Congregational Church of Angola (IECA), in partnership with the Lutheran Federation.
The literacy campaign, framed within the scope of the literacy programme, “Alfalite” of the Lutheran Federation, will be implemented in five municipalities of the province, namely, Bundas, Luau, Lutchazes and Moxico (headquarters), in the period between April and September.
According to the pastor of the IECA in Moxico, Baptista Efraim Lena, investing in human development is one of the tasks of the Church, as a partner of the State, to contribute to raising the education of citizens, as recommended by Sacred Scripture.
He added that, within the framework of this programme, a training seminar was promoted, which enabled the training of 29 literacy teachers, who will be able to implement the project in their respective communities.
In turn, the Supervisor of the Literacy Program “Alfalite” of the Lutheran Federation, Rui Muatchina, said that during the literacy period, topics on methodologies for teaching literacy were addressed.
The IECA literacy program began to be implemented in 2000, having literate more than ten thousand people.
In Moxico, the IECA has existed since October 1945, with five thousand five hundred members.
