Africa-Press – Angola. The governor of Cunene province, Gerdina Didalelwa, this Tuesday exhorted Angolans to continue to promote values of love for the homeland and national symbols, aiming at the continuous preservation of peace and reconciliation.
Speaking at the political act alluding to the 4th of April (Day of Peace and National Reconciliation), he said that it is the responsibility of every Angolan to develop actions based on the ideas of peace, fraternity, solidarity, justice, unity and reconciliation, to promote the spirit of tolerance and respect. mutual.
The minister stated that everyone is called to be an active participant in building peace, “because only with this process can all the dreams and policies that create social well-being materialize”.
“On this 21st anniversary of peace in Angola, every citizen who values tranquility must engage in the promotion of a peaceful and reconciled social environment so that all Angolans from Cabinda to Cunene feel united”, he emphasized.
Gerdina Didalelwa recalled that April 4, 2002 symbolizes the end of the armed conflict, which for several decades devastated the country and divided families, whose achievement of reconciliation between children of the same country should make everyone proud.
He added that peace does not only represent the silencing of weapons won with the blood and tears of many Angolans, but a unique event of reconciliation between brothers who were at odds at the time of political instability.
“The 4th of April means the rebirth of a country that seeks to consolidate democracy every day, to promote citizenship based on the principle of free private initiative, in order to allow the fulfillment of personal and collective aspirations”, he justified.
However, he said that thanks to this achievement, the Executive has carried out numerous reforms ranging from the fight against corruption, impunity, nepotism, simplification of administrative procedures, with a view to promoting the construction of a healthy society.
He said that these reforms should continue to be the guiding principles of an increasingly developed Angola and a country that honors and makes all its children and victims of the various stages of the armed struggle for national liberation and the hard and prolonged civil war proud.
Under the motto “21 years of peace – building a better Angola”, the event was marked by the holding of a round table on the impact of peace in the areas of education and circulation of people and goods.
Peace in Angola resulted from the Complementary Memorandum of Understanding to the Lusaka Protocol, signed between the Angolan Government and UNITA, on April 4, 2002, in the city of Luena, Moxico province.
