Africa-Press – Angola. The deputies assigned to the 4th Commission of the National Assembly were, this Thursday, concerned with the insufficient budget allocated to health units in the municipality of Luanda, province with the same name.
The position was expressed by the coordinator of the group of deputies, Paulo de Carvalho, who visited the 4 de Fevereiro Medical Diagnostic Center and the Ilha Health Center, as part of a journey to assess the socio-economic situation in the municipality of Luanda, drawing attention to the need for legal institutions to overcome this insufficiency.
According to Paulo de Carvalho, another difficulty found at the level of the centers has to do with the lack of food for both the technicians in service and the patients, but he said that this problem could be solved with the already approved budget.
As for the problem of lack of human resources and technical equipment, found at the level of the two centres, he referred that they should be resolved at central and provincial level.
In turn, the administrator of the 4 de Fevereiro Diagnostic Medical Center, Ana Bastos, said that since December 2022 they have not received a budget, as well as the amounts allocated are insufficient, given the actions that have been carried out since the maintenance and food.
The administrator of the municipality of Luanda, Milca Caquesse, considered the visit of the group of deputies positive, reiterating the continuous work in order to see the concerns of health institutions and other institutions at the circumscription level resolved.
At the end of the activity, the group of deputies from the 4th Commission of the National Assembly visited the space where building 41 was erected, on Avenida ex-combatante, which collapsed on March 23.
According to the administrator of the municipality of Luanda, the families who lived around the building still have their houses at risk, so they cannot have access to them.
As for the building next door, the occupants were all accommodated in hotels, with entry only allowed to remove some important objects.
In this sense, he considered that the administration of the municipality of Luanda will continue to intercede with the owner Fundinveste to see the situation resolved.
“Well, regardless of whether the building is private, the victims are our citizens”, he underlined.
For the next few days, said the official, the deputies will see some teaching units, drainage ditches, secondary and tertiary roads, markets, as well as taxi stops.
