Africa-Press – Angola. Six hundred and thirteen lawyers have definitive licenses to practice their profession in Benguela province, a number still considered insufficient to meet the demand.

This information was provided to press by the president of the Provincial Council of the Angolan Bar Association, José Faria, during the ceremony of handing over ballots to nine new professionals in the class.

According to José Faria, the Council’s great challenge is to increase not only the number of lawyers, but also their quality.

That is why he said that actions of the kind do not end here and that the focus on training new lawyers must continue.

On the other hand, he informed that the National Examination for the admission of new trainee lawyers is scheduled for April 28th.

At the level of Benguela, he said, there are 200 qualified candidates registered to participate in the exam.

“We need to train lawyers so that they can be prepared to face the new dynamics of society”, he emphasized.

He explained that there is a fringe of society with financial need that needs lawyers, which is technically called “legal assistance”.

José Faria referred that the right of access to justice and courts for all citizens is enshrined in the Constitution of the Republic of Angola.

The act was attended by the Chairman of the Angolan Bar Association (OAA), Luís Paulo Monteiro, judges and guests.
