Africa-Press – Angola. The National Police in Cunene province seized, this week, five vehicles, three with national registration plates and two from Namibia, with adapted tanks, intended for smuggling fuel for sale in Namibian territory.
According to a note from the corporation distributed, Friday, the fact occurred at the Santa Clara border, where the Criminal Investigation Police forces seized 900 liters of fuel, 500 of which were gasoline and 400 of diesel.
The source indicates that the corporation is strengthening mechanisms to combat fuel smuggling along the common Angola/Namibia border, given the new “modus operandi” of smugglers.
In recent times, those involved in fuel smuggling have changed the tanks of vehicles in order to transport a larger volume of the product.
Cunene province shares 460 kilometers with the Republic of Namibia, 340 on land and 120 on rivers.
