Africa-Press – Angola. The former municipal administrator of Songo, in Uíge province, accused of embezzling 25 million Kwanzas, was arrested at the weekend by the local Criminal Investigation Service.

This Monday, the SIC spokesman in Uíge, Zacarias Fernando, explained that the facts occurred in November 2022, when the former manager signed a contract for the rehabilitation of the health post of Kimalalo village, in the amount of 30 million kwanzas, whereas the actual budget was 5 million kwanzas.

“The accused, aged 36, diverted the difference of 25 million Kwanzas without giving any legal justification”, said the official.

As a result of what happened, the alleged criminal was taken to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, which applied the most serious coercive measure (pretrial detention in the Kongo Penitentiary establishment).
