Africa-Press – Angola. The provincial governor of Cuanza Sul, Job Capapinha, said this Tuesday, in the city of Sumbe, that the feeling of impunity contributed to the proliferation of corruption in the country.
Speaking at the presentation of the National Strategy for the Prevention and Repression of Corruption (ENAPREC), Job Capapinha condemned the illicit enrichment of some citizens who once held public office.
“As we know, having won the armed conflict, our country embarked on a program of national reconstruction, having obtained international support. In this context, some public office holders saw in this process an opportunity for illicit enrichment, leaving the country in a very precarious social and economic situation”, he stressed.
However, he recognized that the country has made significant advances in the process of combating corruption, as a result of the measures implemented by the Executive.
In this regard, he exhorted society in the province to actively participate in the consultation process for the enrichment of the programme.
On his turn, the chief prosecutor in Cuanza Sul, Ireneu Kassamwa, spoke of the consequences of corruption in society, calling for the promotion of a culture of denouncement and respect for public property.
Members of the local government, heads of the General Inspectorate of State Administration and the Provincial Delegation of MININT, public prosecutors, academics, municipal administrators, among other entities, took part in the act.
Starting this Tuesday, until the 18th of May, the process of Public Hearing of the Proposed National Strategy for the Prevention and Repression of Corruption will take place in the 18 provinces of the country.
ENAPREC is a presidential initiative embodied in carrying out studies and preparing proposals and mechanisms for implementing the United Nations convention to combat corruption, based on prevention and repression.
