Africa-Press – Angola. Two fishermen’s cooperatives in the municipality of Cunhinga, in the province of Bié, benefited from four wooden boats, with their respective nets and hooks.

The material was purchased through the Integrated Program for Local Development and Combating Poverty (PIDLCP).

According to the administrator of Cunhinga, Georgina Lumati, who did not reveal the amount spent for this purpose, the intention is to reduce the impact of hunger and poverty among the populations, by encouraging entrepreneurship.

The municipality of Cunhinga controls seven fishermen’s cooperatives, but five of them are in the process of being legalized.

The head of the 4 de Fevereiro fishermen’s cooperative, Adriano Pessela, recalled that they used to fish with improvised canoes and had serious difficulties in storing the fish after it had been taken from the Cutato river.

Created by the former military in 2013, the 4 de Fevereiro cooperative controls 92 members. In addition to this municipality, there is also a market in the city of Cuito.

Francisco Mandavela, president of the 14 de Abril cooperative, made up of young people, defended the creation of more attractive policies for the promotion of river fishing.

This cooperative controls 27 young people.

The act was presided over by the Minister of Territory Administration, Dionísio Manuel da Fonseca, who worked on Wednesday in the said municipality.

Also present were the governor of the province, Pereira Alfredo, and the deputy governors Alcida de Jesus Camatele Sandumbo and Edgar Marcelino Hilário.
