Africa-Press – Angola. The candidate for the presidency of the Red Cross of Angola (CVA), Faustina Alves de Sousa, promised this Friday in Luena, Moxico province, to improve the transparency and good management of the resources of this philanthropic organization to guarantee trust of donors.
The person responsible for the highest position at the CVA, for the succession of Alfredo Elavoco Pinto, at the head of the CVA since 2018, spoke to the press about her projects, in case she wins the elections on the 10th of this month.
He explained that, in case of victory, he could adopt a good governance management model, regularly providing information to donors and partners on the destination given to the institution’s assets.
Speaking to the press, after being received in an audience by the provincial governor of Moxico, Ernesto Muangala, as part of the electoral campaign that she is promoting throughout the country, Faustina Alves undertook to solve the problems of non-payment of subsidies to employees.
He said that the objective of his candidacy was to boost the dynamics of the Red Cross in the national and international context, in order to fulfill its role, as well as to promote the organization’s self-sustainability.
According to Faustina Alves, former Minister of Social Action, Family and Gender Equality, in the last government, the enhancement of human capital, the increase in more voluntary members, donors and contributors, as well as advocating with the Government at all levels, as partners in the implementation of social policies are other aspects of his candidacy.
A doctor by profession, Faustina Alves de Sousa is running for the presidency of the CVA with Carlos Alberto Gourgel Rodrigues and Delfina Cumandala.
Present in Angola for three decades and with 260 years of history, the Red Cross was founded in Switzerland in 1863, being an international organization dedicated to alleviating human suffering, protecting people’s lives and health and preserving human dignity, above all, during armed conflicts and other emergencies.
The province of Moxico has 570 members, of which four will be entitled to vote at the organization’s next assembly, which will take place from the 9th to the 10th of the current month.
