Africa-Press – Angola. The National Swimming Team is in second place in the general scoring table of the African Championship in zone IV, with a total of 435.00 points, after the first round of the event which takes place since Wednesday at the Alvalade swimming pool.

This position results from the successful showing of the national combined in the start of the African, in which it added 208.00 pts (men) and 227.00 pts (women).

The Angolans, who are looking for a podium in the said competition and the consequent improvement of the 8th place in the last competition of its kind, won 14 medals in their debut, of which 4 are gold, 5 are silver and the same number are bronze.

The scoring table is led by the Namibians, with 516.00 pts. Mozambique comes in third with 316.00 pts.

Surprisingly, superpower South Africa is fourth with 316.00 points.

Lesotho, with just 5pts, is 13th and last in the overall leaderboard.

Yesterday, the event, qualifying for the Olympic Games in France “Paris`2024”, continues with the third and fourth round.

Highlights include the 50m butterfly race, specialties by the Angolans Salvador Gordo and Lia Lima, in addition to the 200m “beach” run by fellow sprinter Henrique Mascarenhas.
