Proposal for a Law makes INSS responsible for illness in case of incapacity

Africa-Press – Angola. The General Labor Law Proposal, under discussion in the specialty, makes the social protection system responsible for assuming payments in cases of prolonged illness and accidents at work that result in incapacity.

When providing clarifications to the deputies this Friday, during the discussion on the proposal, the Secretary of State for Labor and Social Security, Pedro Filipe, said that this is one of the great innovations, in comparison with the diploma in force. .

He explained that, in the case of prolonged illness, under the current law, the employer is the one who bears the expenses, but paragraph 1 of article 227, of the proposal under discussion, changes the situation and opposes the currents that claim that it is essentially aimed at workers’ interests.

For his part, deputy José Semedo praised the way in which the debates have been taking place, in search of a fair law.

” It is important to find balance and harmonization between the legitimate interests of workers and the employer, ” he said.

Regarding the philosophy of the law, which is a contract for an indefinite period, he said that there are several underlying issues and that care must be taken throughout the work so that the necessary balance is not lost.

The specialty debate, which involves the deputies of the 1st, 5th and 10th commissions, will run until the 10th of May.

The document, which revokes the Law of 7/15 of the 15th of June, reinforces the harmony in labor relations between workers and employers, essentially aiming to repristinate a set of norms that were revoked with Law n.o 2/2000 , of 11 February, in order to create greater balance in the defense of the interests of workers and employers.
