Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, this Friday appealed to Angolans to continue to promote peace at home, on the road and in any social environment.
The Angolan statesman expressed this vote on his Facebook account in reference to the International Firefighters Day, celebrated Thursday, the 4th.
“Today, Friday, the beginning of another weekend, I call on each one of us to continue to be promoters of peace at home, on the road and in any social environment”, he expressed.
“My word of appreciation goes to firefighters around the world, especially those in my country, on the occasion of their (international) day that was celebrated yesterday”, he added.
“May they continue with the work of saving lives in trouble”, concludes the Angolan statesman.
International Firefighters’ Day was established in 1999 following the receipt of numerous messages from around the world on 4 May following the deaths of five firefighters in tragic circumstances in a wildfire in Australia in 1998.
