Africa-Press – Angola. The Institute of Meteorology and Geophysics of Angola (INAMET) in Malanje, has since the last few days three new modern meteorological stations, acquired with the aim of improving the study and forecasting of the weather in the province.

This is French-manufactured equipment with large projections that will also allow the measurement of wind direction and strength, speed, rainfall volume, among other meteorological data, which the current station does not have.

Of this number, he said, there is an agro-meteorological station already installed in the municipality of Cacuso, equipment that allows the measurement of soil temperature by agricultural technicians when planting food crops.

He added that there are also an automatic meteorological station and another one for lightning to be set up at the provincial airport and in the western Cangambo neighbourhood, in this city.

João Marcolino explained that the former conventional station at the provincial airport, now replaced, could be installed in the songo region, which comprises the municipalities of Cambundi catembo, Luquembo and Quirima, whose prospecting studies to determine the location are ongoing.

Said equipment was delivered within the scope of the INAMET modernization project in the country, following a series of means arriving in the province in April 2022.
